Provision of a grant towards the purchase of a used minibus by Logos Church, Romania.

The minibus will be used to transport cooked meals to the poor in and around Baia Mare and in the provision of youth work services in the area, in association with a new youth centre being set up by the church. The bus can also be used as a business venture to provide an airport shuttle transport from Baia Mare to Ferhingey airport in Budapest, Hungary (7 hour route) and other internal hires.

The cost of purchasing a bus is estimated at £5000; once the purchase cost is met, the running costs will be covered by the church through the provision of a commercial shuttle/hire service to business and other groups.

The most direct air travel route from the UK to Baia Marie is from Heathrow/Gatwick to Budapest Airport in Hungary with a 7-hour mini bus ride to the city. An alternative is from Heathrow/Gatwick to Bucharest, the capital of Romania. Unfortunately Bucharest is in the south of the country and still involves a 9-hour minibus ride. In either event these are well-travelled routes with good comfortable transport in high demand.
